The IT Capacity Planning Dilemma

IT capacity planning has long been the “Gordian Knot” for data center professionals. Trying to account for a business’ hardware and software needs, coupled with the vagaries of short and long term corporate strategies make projecting an organization’s capacity requirements virtually impossible. In this presentation, Chris Crosby, CEO of Compass Datacenters will examine the considerations surrounding the capacity planning process and the how to address them to simplify the planning for data center expansion and ensure that the new facility is not out of capacity as soon as it is built. Attendees will learn about:
  • The six capacity planning issues
  • How they interact with each other
  • What can be controlled (and what can’t)
  • Planning issues within contemporary data centers
  • How data centers actually grow
