Kevin Donovan joined the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) in Golden, Colorado, as the Data Center Manager in 2008. He served as a member of the Research Support Facility (RSF) Integrated Project Team, which developed an innovative performance-based design–build approach for the LEED Platinum RSF building. The RSF houses NREL's primary data center, an award-winning, highly energy efficient data center designed to minimize its energy footprint without compromising needed service quality. Donovan co-authored “Reducing Data Center Loads for a Large-Scale, Low-Energy Office Building: NREL’s Research Support Facility” and was instrumental in the RSF's data center design and deployment. He holds a Data Center Certified Associate certification from Energy University. Prior to NREL, Donovan served as the network manager for illustro Systems International, a mainframe software and servicing company. He is an avid cyclist, skier, and mountain climber.
